My 30 Before 30

I’ll be turning 23 years old on the 28th of this month and therefore there’s only a mere 7 years and 24 days until I turn 30 years old. I don’t know what it is about 30 but I want to achieve a few more things before I reach my next ‘milestone age’ lol. The last 10 years have literally flown by and I know that the next 7 years or so will go by just as quickly – it’s a little bit scary actually.

I’ve thought about what I’ve achieved in my life; what I’ve enjoyed and what has taught me life lessons. I’ve also thought about what I’d like to happen or accomplish before I turn the big 30. After all – when I turn 30 it’ll seem like I wrote this list only yesterday.

So here it goes; My 30 Before 30

Number 1

To graduate from University with my Midwifery degree. This should be in March-July 2020 and so isn’t very far away at all. Once I qualify I’d like to work within my career for a few years and then start to build my own business. I won’t spill the beans on my plans just yet as I like to keep a few things private.

I’d love to have at least one, if not two more children by the time I turn 30 years old. Sounds pretty unlikely at the moment considering I’m not in a relationship – but I have hopes for myself. I mean it’ll happen eventually when the time is right. I personally wouldn’t want to have children after the age of 35 especially with having Isla quite young. Bloody hell – when I’m 30 Isla will be 10.

Number 3

I’d like to be married. I mean I used to dream of getting married when I was a little girl a hell of a lot – but nowadays I just can’t see it happening. I think thats just doubts within myself with past ‘relationships‘ but I know that when I’m with the right person I’ll most probably want to tie the knot. Hopeful thinking lol – we’ll see.

Number 4

I want to be a home owner. I’d love to design my own home – this definitely derives from my love for the Sims as a child (and an adult). I studied graphic design at school for my GCSE’s and interior design has always been an interest of mine. Designing my own home would be an amazing opportunity.

Number 5

I want to travel, explore different places in the World. theres a few places that I really want to travel to and explore with Isla too. I want to return to New York, Jamaica and Rhodes. I’d also love to explore Dubai, Los Angeles, Miami and the Dominican Republic.

Number 6

On a different note; I want to have a breast augmentation. I want bigger and better boobs lol. Pregnancy really does change your body. I mean even before I had Isla I wanted to have this surgery done. By the time I’m 30 I want to have them done.

Number 7

Of course; I want to add to my tattoo collection. I have quite a few at the moment and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of my love for tattoos. I’ll get some more before my 30th. I want a couple of elephant tattoos, some more mandala style tattoos and a few more meaningful tattoos – hopefully to symbolise some future children.

This will definitely happen. I will return to Disney World Florida. Isla loved it so much and of course so did I. Returning when she’s of a height and age to enjoy the bigger rides and experiences will be amazing.

Number 9

I want to make my parents proud. I know they’re proud of me at the moment but theres no feeling like being someone to be proud of. Having my career, my own home and doing well for myself will make them proud.

Number 10

Before I’m 30 I want to have made a big deposit into a trust for Isla for when she’s of a responsible age to access it. Her savings account literally only has £50 in it where money is tight what with University and bills. But by 30 I want to have something there for her.

Number 11

I’d like to get into good shape, tone up, lose weight and have a healthy lifestyle. Of course I’ll still have my nights of binge drinking 8 archers and lemonades, 4 sambuca shots and lots of cocktails lol. I mean – who can resist. I wanna focus on having a healthy balanced diet, exercising regularly and cutting down or quitting bad habits.

Number 12

I want to do something that scares the hell out of me. Something like bungee jumping, jumping out of an airplane or walking through the scariest maze at Tulley’s Farm for Fright Nights in Halloween. If it scares you then battling through it only makes you stronger – and if it doesn’t then you’ve faced your fears and tackled a tricky situation.

Number 13

I really want to learn a new language. I studied German for GCSE but that didn’t really turn out well. I’d love to be able to speak Spanish or French fluently. Not only is it really interesting and an incredible skill to have but I feel as though it’d really help ladies who I’ll look after as a Midwife with English as a second language.

Number 14

I want to spend a week camping, no technology, no mobile phones or anything like that. Just friends, family and nature. I think it’d be really fun and a nice break from the World.

Number 15

Amongst everything else – I want to be financially independent. Have a great career, be able to pay bills and keep money in savings accounts. I’m quite good with money and saving already but to become financially independent and have no worries will be nice.

One thing I’ve struggled with is being a people pleaser. I want to learn how to say “no”. To be able to stand up for myself and do the things that make me and my family happy.

This one is a funny one. I’ve never been able to swim. Before I’m 30 I want to learn how to swim. I’ve never really bothered with it because you know – I don’t ‘need‘ to swim. But I feel as though its something that is a good skill to have.

Number 18

I want to attend a weekend festival. This is something that I had planned to do before I fell pregnant with Isla. I’ve not really had a ‘break‘ as such since being a Mother. So going to a festival would be pretty cool. Plus – I haven’t heard of over 30’s going.

Number 19

I will overcome a fear. I’d love to overcome my fear of public speaking. I’m quite shy and I feel as though overcoming this would be really useful. It’s something that I struggle with and have struggled with for as long as I can remember.

Number 20

I want to ‘pay it forward’ – something I’ve read about in magazines or online forums. Paying it forward is ultimately paying for something for somebody else without offering to. For example; going to the Mcd’s drive thru’ and paying for the order for the car behind you. Something simple but nice to brighten another person’s day.

I want to make my family tree. To know about relatives and ancestors that I didn’t know existed. I think this would be really interesting and I’d love to go back as far as I can. I think this would be really lovely for Isla (and any other children to see).

Number 22

I want to try and pay off my student debt. I know that realistically you’ll never really have to “pay it off” but it’s something that I want to do or at least make a start in doing. I haven’t got as much student debts as those starting their Midwifery degree (from September 2017) as the NHS funded my university fees. So I’ll only have to pay off my student finance debts.

Number 23

I think I’d like to get a pet. Whether that be a dog, cat or even a fish. I’d like to get a pet tortoise I think. Something different but not a pet that you’ll struggle to get someone to look after when you go on holidays lol.

Las Vegas – need I say more. I’d love to travel to Las Vegas for either a birthday, hen do or an anniversary to splash out some cash and have a fun time. Gambling isn’t something that I do – I don’t even put the lottery on. But Las Vegas is something else.

Learn to cook a variety of meals. Not that I can’t already cook. But to really up the game and learn how to cook my favourite meal (TGI’s chef here I come).

Number 26

Sounds so simple but I want to try new alcoholic beverages. I usually stick to the same drinks – archers and lemonade (I don’t do vodka), sambuca shots and cocktail wise I prefer the sweet ones; pornstar martini’s, sex on the beach, mojito’s. So widening my taste of alcohol would be something interesting to say the least. Although last weekend I did try (rum or whiskey – I can’t remember) honey shots; and a watermelon cocktail. Those were pretty tasty and I’d definitely have both of them again.

Number 27

I want to spend as much time as I can with Isla and with any other children I may have in the future. Childhood is so rewarding and taking time out of work or from a busy schedule once or twice a week just to spend time together as a family is something that I think would be great for me and for Isla.

I want to buy something expensive, in cash – just because it’s something I haven’t done before. It’s quite a materialistic thing to do, or to put on a list but it’s something different nonetheless. Possibly a Chanel or LV bag or a cheeky pair of red bottoms – I dunno.

Number 29

I want to be able to discover my passion. Obviously Midwifery is very close to my heart but life can’t only be about work – which Midwifery is essentially. So I want to take the time out to discover my passion and to take time out of my work life to focus on this too.

Throw myself a big 30th Birthday party. What better way to celebrate right?

il_570xN.1213669989_5b93.jpgSo here is for the next 7 years and 24 days until my 30th birthday. I’m going to try and make a start at some of those on my list and enjoy my life whilst doing so. Ultimately things come to those who work hard for them and karma has a huge influence on that. Here is to the start of something amazing.

xoxo
